  20. own waste product (MS-DOS).

  22. We have just reached the point where a standard PC is Unix-capable.
  23. Meanwhile Unix is making major inroads in the traditional business
  24. mini/mainframe market.  Any month now DP managers are going to notice
  25. that they can run the same OS on everything from the corporate
  26. mainframe to the clerk's PC, and that this OS comes with networking,
  27. email, file sharing, multi-tasking, GUIs and any other buzzword they
  28. pick (and its an "open system" as well).

  30. The thing that stands in the way of this dream is the current practice
  31. of marketing Unix spreadsheets etc at 2-5 times the price of the
  32. equivalent MS-DOS version (if at all).  But if a few major
  33. organisations go for Unix PCs (they can negotiate organisation
  34. licenses for these things, at saner prices) then we should reach the
  35. boostrap point and Microsoft is doomed.
