- The newsgroup comp.os.os2.beta is in RFD (Request for Discussion)
- right now, along with a couple other newsgroups (comp.os.os2.announce
- and comp.os.os2.ver1x). There will be three others going into RFD in
- about a month. Watch for the Call for Votes: it is important that you
- vote YES if you want these newsgroups to be created. (Don't mail me;
- wait for the CFV post, and follow the instructions you see there.)
-
- The .beta newsgroup is intended to be a forum to discuss not only the
- beta(s), but also suggestions for future releases of OS/2 (especially
- when a beta is not the active topic of discussion). The .announce
- newsgroup will hopefully handle the other end. It will be moderated,
- and I expect some of the traffic will include APARs (problems slated
- to be fixed). (IBM has included a full list of OS/2 APARs on
- CompuServe now; I hope to get it over to ftp-os2.nmsu.edu in the next
- week or two.)
-
- IBM has reopened the bug reporting (for released OS/2 versions)
- through the CompuServe address. The problem report form is filename
- os2prob.txt, available via anonymous ftp from ftp-os2.nmsu.edu (check
- file /pub/os2/00Index for location).
-
- IBM Toronto has several netmail addresses for reporting problems and
- offering suggestions on C Set/2, Workframe/2, and the other OS/2
- development tools. See the OS/2 Frequently Asked Questions List:
- Programmer's Edition for further information.
-
- Note that the OS/2 newsgroups are carried over IBM's internal network,
- and they are monitored by IBM.
-
- I'm working on a few other ideas. Hopefully I'll have something more
- to report in the near future.
