- I couldn't leave well enough alone, could I......
-
- The 2.1 beta has been so good on my machine at home that I decided to have one
- more go at getting SVGA (800x600x*anything!*) on my no-name ET4000-based video
- card.
-
- I normally run a Trident 8900c - which is OK, but slowish.
-
- I re-installed the VGA support, made the card swap, and re-booted. All OK
- except for the usual problem with my ET4000 card. A full screen DOS session
- causes my Philips 7CM3209 monitor to lose synce. I have long since learned to
- shut down blind, so this was no real problem.......
-
- I can open a DOS window and do ALT+HOME and get a ful screen session.....but
- NO WAY can I get *any* full screen DOS session with this card - at *any*
- resolution.
-
- I tried playing with the TLIVESA driver supplied with the card. I also
- installed VMODE.COM and tried several settings (35K, 45M, etc) in the
- autoexec.bat.......all to no avail whatever. I re-ran SVGA ON each time - and
- delted the SVGADATA.PMI file in between.
-
- 10-12 boots later.....nada.
-
- The only thing that ever worked with this card was the VSVGA.SYS contained in
- the TSENGFIX.ZIP archive last May. I actually got some 800x600x16 SVGA
- drivers to work at 60Mhz at that time. The November beta 'broke' that, though
- and I have given up trying to get this card to work.....until now.
-
- It came in a purple-sided box with a green pastel top that looks sort of
- like oil pastels on a rough-textured board. There is a sploch of orange and
- white on the top and the letters VGA in white with very thin trim.
-
- Has anyone got these cards to work? I know of several others who have
- not......here in NZ and in Britain.
-
- If I can't get it sorted out this time......I'm going to sell the damn thing.
-
- Any suggestions? either for fixing my prolbem or as to price.......:-)
-
- Thanks
-
- Steve
