  15. I posted about this before, but, other than a few people telling
  16. me that they have the same problem, I'm still in the dark about
  17. what to do.

  19. The problem is that my keyboard will lock up at seemingly random
  20. times.  That is, I can be typing in EPM one minute, mouse to
  21. another part of the doc, click on it, have the cursor show up,
  22. and bingo: nothing!  I can't type.  The keyboard is dead.  No
  23. Ctrl-Esc or Alt-Esc.  Nada.  Now, everthing else still works:  
  24. The mouse is fine and I can use it to switch windows, move stuff,
  25. lauch applications, and shut down, but the keyboard doesn't come
  26. back and if I launch a text mode app I'm dead.

  28. I didn't mean to imply that EPM is the only app that starts this.
  29. It seems to happen any time, though I don't recall it happening
  30. *while* I'm typing or in a non-mouse-driven application.  Any
  31. Win-OS/2 session is pretty much the worst offender - nearly 
  32. instant lockup.

  34. Here is my setup:

  36.     OS/2 2.0 (GA+SP) level XR06055 (graphics engine XR02010)
  37.     no-name (OPTimum 386WB motherboard) AMD386-40MHz, (+math)
  38.     20MB RAM, 
  39.     1MB ET4000 video (running 1024x768x8bit desktop),
  40.     two (physical) ESDI hard drives.
  41.     Logitech MouseMan Bus mouse (IRQ5)
  42.     COM1 (9600 bps modem) (IRQ4)
  43.     COM2 (IRQ3) and COM3 (IRQ9) unused
  44.     LPT1 (IRQ7) (printer)

  46. I'm really stuck here.  I can't reliably do much of anything 
  47. while this persists.  Could this be a problem with the mouse?
  48. I have it installed as a Bus Style Mouse and I'm using whatever
  49. drivers OS/2 put in the CONFIG.SYS (MOUSE.SYS, VMOUSE.SYS, and
  50. POINTDD.SYS I assume).

  53. speed up TE/2's performance (I still get ~930cps though :-< ). 
  54. Originally, under GA alone, I was having this same trouble
  55. which I thought was caused by PMTerm so I switched to TE/2.
  56. That seemed (I wish I had written exactly what I did) to work.
  57. Since then, I reinstalled GA+SP on different hard drives.
  58. Naturally, I suspected the V/SIO drivers here but I don't have
  59. to use the modem at all to cause a lockup and switching back
  60. to V/COM.SYS doesn't help either.  AARGH! */
