- Anyone using the new W800V driver for Trident SVGA?
-
- It purports to offer 800*600*16 seamless, with 1024*1018 virtual desktop
- support. Now I haven't even tried the "Trident" 32-bit drivers since I like
- the 16-bit 800*600*256 VDD so much, and when I saw a new VDD including
- seamless WinOS2 support, I thought, Whoopee! Mega-desktop time!
-
- I installed it OK, DISPLAY.DLL in a new directory just like it says in the
- SP README, after backing up changed files and making the appropriate changes
- to CONFIG.SYS and SVGADATA.PMI, and it came up straight away. It's a VDD all
- right, love it! It's 16-colour all right, not so great but I'll survive. It'
- s seamless all right, I used the Drives object to find EXCEL.EXE, changed
- its settings to WinOS2 Windowed, double-clicked, and yep, Excel started
- seamless!
-
- That was pretty thrilling, but then I tried to get Excel to load a file, and
- the menu kept disappearing from under the mouse pointer. Then it hung.
- BRS :-( Then STARTUP.CMD hung. BRS :-( A few more iterations of this,
- including CHKDSKing from floppy, and I went back to the 800*600*256 VDD.
-
- Anyone get W800V to work? The W800V.DOC says I need the latest VSVGA.SYS and
- BVHSVGA.DLL, dated 10/25/92, but I can't find them anywhere - the SP ones
- are dated 10/16/92, and even software.watson.ibm.com has these files dating
- back to July!
-
- Any other suggestions? I've got my hands on my dream driver, but it's broken
- just now...
