- S Withers comments on the missing buttons for Windows 3.1 support in the

- I got the buttons on the first install, but lost the buttons on a selective
- install of the video. Another selective install of the Windows support brought
- the buttons back, just as Steve reports. (I erroneously reported to Steve
- that Maple would not install seamlessly, but it was due to the "lost"
- buttons.)
-
- Other notes on the beta:
- 1. The "strings" utility breaks under the beta (prints the same stuff
- repeatedly). Anyone have source for a good "strings" utility? I will compile
- with MSC and EMX and upload.
-
- 2. Kretzer reported earlier that MSC 6.00A breaks under the beta. He remarked
- that it may be due to the DELDIR bug. MSC works for me in my limited testing
- so far...
-
- 3. C-Kermit breaks under the beta. A shell-escape ("!") with no command
- will lock the keyboard and create a zombie process. Shell-escapes
- before a connection work. "!ls" works. "!sh" locks the keyboard.
-
- This did work in OS/2 2.0, right?
-
- 4. I get plenty of problems with Windows apps. Maple will lock when
- asking for help. I have been able to lock cardfile by asking for help.
-
- 5. I'm not too pleased with the new fonts used in command windows (introduced
- in the Service Pack?).
