- Hi All,
-
- I've been using Microsoft's development products in the past (MSC 6.0, 7.0),
- and have never used the Borland C products for any serious development.
- Now I've got an opportunity to take over a contracting project that
- requires the Borland tools, and I need some help deciding what to use.
-
- The client does not own any of the development tools, only the source code,
- so we're trying to sort out how to build the product. The previous
- programmer was using a product called something like "Turbo C 2.0
- Professional Version", which apparently includes TC 2.0, TASM, and
- VROOMM.
-
- A couple of notes about the code:
- The product is heavily overlayed using VROOMM, and uses the "global" keyword
- in the ASM files (TASM specific?). The C code is pretty standard stuff, no
- windows or C++. This is about all I know about the code at this time.
-
- So, I've got two options:
- 1) Aquire a copy of these older dev tools (TC 2.0 Prof. Version) from
- somewhere.
- 2) Aquire the latest and greatest from Borland and hope that it will
- be compatible enough with the older stuff to generate the same
- executables.
-
- I'd prefer option 2, but not being familiar with the Borland tools, and
- what all the different versions contain (TC, TC++, BC++, Turbo Debugger &
- Tools, etc...,) I'm not sure what to purchase. Any recommendations for
- either option?
-
- Thanks for any help!
