  14. 1)  Get XS3 server from ft.robots.ox.ac.uk in directory /pub/linux/S3
  15.     Get version 0.2b for 911 cards, 0.3.1 for anything else.

  17. 2)  Get the example Xconfig file in the same directory.

  19. 3) Uncompress the XS3 server in /usr/X386/bin
  20.  
  21. 4) Replace /usr/X386/lib/X11/Xconfig with the S3 version and adjust the mouse
  22.    line for your mouse.

  24. 5) Edit the file /usr/X386/lib/X11/xinit/xinitrc so that it runs the S3 server
  25.    and not X or X386

  27. 6) Type startx and go for it!

  29. NB:  You may find your card cannot cope with the 80Hz 1024x768 line in
  30. Xconfig.  Mine does not, for example.  Comment it out and try the 65Hz line
  31. instead, which works fine on my machine, with no discernible flicker.
