- I have just in stalled SLS recently on my machine, and rebult the
- kernel to reflect the amount of ram i have (>16mb)
- however, i had many problems -- w and top didn't
- work, likewise the floppy device doidn't work properly.
-
- i then decided just to build a kernel with <=16mb of ram,
- and, and give that a shot. SAME problem, so it isn't a dma
- thing.
-
- symptoms:
-
- upon boot, the vga text screen is unreadable. i can get to X by knowing
- what to type -- X does work, though.
-
- anything that requires looking at /dev/kmem whines big time. (w, top)
- and either doesn't work, or gives wacked out results.
-
- any idea of a fix -- do i copy some other file (system.map ?)
- to /dev/kmem, or do i rm it?
