- A strange this happened today. I was doing some remote X stuff (I had a
- lot of windows open), and all of the sudden my hard-drive started churning.
- I tried do fire up another shell and a remote login to my machine, but
- couldn't because of the heavy disk activity. Syslog recorded this:
-
- Jan 24 15:28:35 mxd120 vmunix: tcp_readable, more than 20 packets without a psh
- Jan 24 15:28:36 mxd120 vmunix: possible read_queue corruption.
- Jan 24 15:28:36 mxd120 vmunix: tcp_readable, more than 20 packets without a psh
- Jan 24 15:28:36 mxd120 vmunix: possible read_queue corruption.
- Jan 24 15:28:36 mxd120 vmunix: tcp_readable, more than 20 packets without a psh
- Jan 24 15:28:36 mxd120 vmunix: possible read_queue corruption.
-
- This same log was recorded continuously from 15:28:35 until 15:36:03. I
- assume that all of this logging was the source of the drive activity but
- am not sure what actually caused it? Any ideas?
-
- System specifics:
- Linux 0.99pl4
- XFree86 1.1
- Western Digital Ethernet Card (8003 chipset)
-
- The remote X stuff was done on a SparcII running SunOS 4.1.1.
