  13. I'm having difficulty with sending mail and news from my home machine.
  14. My news and mail feed is working perfectly; that is, I get anything
  15. sent from the internet nodes I have accounts on, but I can't send
  16. anything out. (It used to work, then I upgraded something - I don't
  17. know what- and it broke).

  19. I've installed the latest SLS smail.tpz as well as a series of older
  20. versions.

  22. The /usr/spool/smail/msglog entry for each failed mail try is like this:

  24.   command `/usr/bin/uuname` returned exit status EX_256

  26. I've looked through the source for uuname and it explicitly returns a
  27. 0 and the experiments I've tried with just the shell (/usr/bin/uuname;
  28. echo $?) bear that out.

  30. It appears that the smail sources are a mess, but I'll try to get them
  31. compiled.

  33. Has anyone solved this already? I'm at the point where I'll have to
  34. backup all my config information and scripts and reinstall from
  35. scratch.
