- I'm currently re-installing IDA-Sendmail (5.65c/1.4.4)
- [ist this a stable version ?] and am considering digging into
- the code to change the location of the .forward files.
-
- I want to address the well-known problem that the mailserver
- has to mount all home-dirs if .forward files are used.
- A better place for these files is IMHO the mail-spool.
- * it's located on the mail-server
- * all clients have it mounted
- The file-name could either be /var/spool/mail/user.forward or
- /var/spool/mail/fowards/user.
- File-permissions should be manageable: Same perms for the
- forward-dir as /tmp. [btw, what ARE the default permissions
- for the spool dir ? and for /bin/mail ? SUID-root ? ]
-
- Has anybody done this already ?
- Is this considered a good idea ?
- What traps should I expect ?
-
