  13. We have been experiencing difficulties with MX records.

  15. In the case of a couple of nodes for which MX records have been installed if
  16. sendmail is not running on those nodes, the e-mail addressed to them is sent to
  17. the other node to which it should be sent but, instead of staying there or being
  18. forwarded to some third node, it is held in defered status on that node,
  19. addressed to the node to which it was originally addressed and not deliverable.

  21. In one case, if sendmail is running, then e-mail addressed to that node is sent
  22. on correctly to the other node to which the MX record points but if the addressee
  23. user's personal forwarding is set to the node which should be bypassed by the MX
  24. record, it is sent on there despite the MX record.

  26. The MX record thus seems to occasion correct forwarding to the node to which it
  27. points but to stop working after that, leaving mail to be either sent on to the
  28. node which is supposed to be bypassed or sit in mailq in deferred status.

  30. For other nodes for which we have installed MX records, they work correctly.  We
  31. would like to hear any possible explanations.
