- Hi,
- I am new to MIME and am rather confused by the interoperability issues.
- I understand that some mail gateways in the market can route
- a 'proprietary' mail (e.g., created in CC:Mail) across an SMTP backbone to
- another 'proprietary' mail system (e.g. MS Mail). My impression is that
- these routed mail can only contain 7-bit data (no audio/video allowed).
- Am I accurate in saying this ?
- Assuming this is so, I would like to know if there is any
- existing (or planned) products which can convert proprietary mails to
- MIME ones (and vice versa) so that multi-media
- mail can be exchanged between say, CC:Mail and MS Mail, over
- the same SMTP backbone ?
- Any pointers is appreciated. Many thanks.
