- The caller ID debate has been going on for years and there's no way
- to make it end, so I won't try (besides, I participate sometimes)
- but I have one request:
-
- When arguing for/against caller ID, please distinguish between having
- the ID unit installed on a BUSINESS line and having it installed on
- a RESIDENTIAL line. My own $.02: the arguments about wanting to know
- in advance who is calling you only apply to when you are being called
- at home (RESIDENTIAL service). I don't too much oppose having caller
- ID available to RESIDENTIAL phone customers. But it is BUSINESSES
- which are pushing for Caller ID, and they are using the residential
- arguments in a self-serving way.
-
- Those of you in favor of caller ID as currently proposed/implemented,
- please explain why you want BUSINESSES (not private individuals) you
- call to know your phone number as soon as you've called (so they can
- call you back and pester you, or put you on hold for 45 minutes before
- answering because your prefix indicates you live in a non-rich neighborhood,
- etc.). Thanx.
-
- Opinions above are mine, not Telebit's!!!!!
