- I live several miles out in the country from the local exchange, and
- have had trouble trying to get a "cheap" V.32bis modem (Twincom) to work
- on my line. I currently run a Courier HST (non-V.32) at 9600 baud with
- no problems, so I know that high speed operation is doable given the right
- hardware.
-
- The question is: What brands/models of modems perform well in the "long
- rural loop" environment? Will the "optical interface" in the new AT&T
- Dataport modems help?
-
- Thanks for any input,
-
