- I just got a UDS v.32 modem without any documentation and am trying to
- get it going. I've managed to connect to one v.32bis modem and do
- get the message "connect 9600", but then I get thousands of random
- characters back. To me, that says that the problem is not something
- like parity, but instead some modem setting. On another trial to a different
- v.32bis modem, the connection was never made. The modem stayed in training
- mode for 30 seconds and then hung up. I've tried all 4 factory settings
- (the option shown on the LCD display), and none of them work any better.
-
- This modem really is called model V.32. It was made the last week of 1987, and
- is a large box. It is revision c.
-
- Does anyone have any suggestions how to proceed? I'd like to try things like
- disabling error checking, but don't know the command.
