  16. While there's no one 'right answer', I'd say it depends on the number of
  17. people to be downloading, how often they'll be downloading, and whether or
  18. not you want to dedicate a phone line more-or-less permanently to the task.
  19. If it's for occasional use by one, two, or a few folks, something like the
  20. Host Mode of Procomm Plus may suit you just fine.  Also, it's far easier to
  21. set that up than a full-blown BBS pkg; and far easier to manage.  You can
  22. fire it up at the drop of a hat when someone needs to get something, and
  23. when it's over, kill it, and you've got your phone line again. This is the
  24. scenario I run with a friend of mine whom I develop programs with, but he
  25. lives in TX and I live in OK, so when we need to move something between us,
  26. we fire up this 'mini BBS' and move the files.  When it's over, we have the
  27. phone again; no second lines, etc.

  32. Both QuickBBS and Maximus are good, and fairly simple to set up.  There may
  33. be others with which I haven't worked, which are equally so.  As I recall,
  34. off the top of my head, the registration fees are quite reasonable also.
