  29. The conference provides an international forum for presentation and
  30. discussion of research on information and knowledge management, as well as
  31. recent advances on data and knowledge bases. Authors are invited to submit
  32. papers, proposals for tutorials and proposals for exhibits concerned with
  33. theory or practice or both. The focus of the conference includes, but is not
  34. limited to, the following: Application of knowledge representation techniques
  35. to semantic data modeling; development and management of heterogeneous
  36. knowledge bases; automatic acquisition of data and knowledge bases especially
  37. from raw text; object-oriented DBMS; optimization techniques; transaction
  38. management; high performance OLTP systems; security techniques; performance
  39. evaluation; hypermedia; unconventional applications; parallel database
  40. systems; physical and logical database design; data and knowledge sharing;
  41. interchange and interoperability; cooperation in heterogeneous systems; domain
  42. modeling and ontology-building; knowledge discovery in databases; information
  43. storage and retrieval, information filtering and interface technology.

  45. INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

  47. All submissions must be accompanied by a cover letter containing a list of
  48. all authors, their affiliations, telephone numbers, electronic mail
  49. addresses, and fax telephone numbers. Papers should be at most 20 double
  50. spaced pages and must include an abstract of 100-150 words with five
  51. keywords. All submissions will be reviewed and will be judged with respect
  52. to quality and relevance.  Authors must submit 7 copies of each paper,
  53. tutorial or exhibit proposal to the program chairman:

  66. STUDENT PAPER AWARD

  68.   The author of the best student paper will receive an award for his/her
  69.   submission.  To be eligible, the student must be the first author and
  70.   primary contributor to the paper.  The cover letter must identify the paper
  71.   as a candidate for this competition.
