  24. I must respectfully disagree with this statement.  I have known people
  25. to acquire codependency (codep/Alanonic) in adulthood due to
  26. interaction with an addict.  Additionally, your assertion flies in the
  27. face of 40 years' worth of Al-anon literature (although Al-anon
  28. doesn't use the term 'codependency').

  33. This is patently false, my friend.  Addiction is rarely blatently
  34. evident, and many people befriend addicts without being aware of the
  35. disease's presence.

  44. addicts simply feel most comfortable and supported when banding
  45. together with others suffering from the same addiction.
