- Precisely. Many of my collegues have unlisted numbers, and they ALL still
- get annoying (dinner-time) telemarketing calls. Solution? Use the answering
- machine to screen calls. Caller-Number ID won't work, since I'd still HAVE
- to pick up the phone if I didn't recognize the number, since it might be a
- friend calling from a service station needing a ride home 'cause of car
- trouble or something. You never know where people you WANT to talk to are
- going to call FROM.
-
- Better than the answering machine would be (free) boxes that don't even
- ring your phone unless the caller types in an access code. Or, if you'd
- still like to let acquaintances call (say, to invite you to dinner), you
- could have the phone ring *differently* if the correct access code was typed
- in... then you can, at your whim, either pick up or not pick up (especially
- around 5:00p to 7:30p).
-
- Just a thought. Any boxes like this available NOW? How much?
