- I am not aware of what Newton thought was going on when he developed
- his theories. My discussion of classical mechanics, as we also refer
- to it, is grounded in present day understanding.

- I also did not intend to imply that transmutation of elements is not
- possible. I simply wanted to make clear what modern understanding of
- physics and chemistry do and do not allow as mechanisms for alchemy.
- I have only tried to correct attempts to apply physics *as we know
- it*. I don't think I have closed the door on something we physicists
- don't know about yet.
