- Nope; isotopes w. too many (or a few too few) neutrons (as
- compared to protons) can be perfectly stable (though most aren't). Rule
- of thumb: The heavier the nucleus, the more "extra" neutrons it has -
- the really heavy ones have quite a lot more neutrons than protons. This
- is all to stabilize the internal quantum mechanics of the nucleus,
- nuthin' us mere mortals need bother with. :-)
