  10.    I once saw somewhere (I have no idea where), that one could make a
  11. cheap pick gun with a single piece of metal.  (excuse my ASCII artistry)

  18.     What you basically do is bend the metal down in the back, and bend
  19. it around the bottom, and then up the front.  When you have made a
  20. complete loop, you bend it back around, leaving a good bit of slack when
  21. you bend it.
  22.     The part sticking out the front needs to be in the shape of a
  23. straight pick to stick in the keyway.  Then squeeze the "handle"
  24. together, and leave go.  The metal will hit itself, and if you hold it
  25. right, it should vibrate.  The idea is to bend the metal in such a way
  26. that it will vibrate after you leave go of it.  You will need to use
  27. some kind of springy metal so that you can flex it repeatedly.
  28.     I have never used a pick gun, or tried to make one like this. 
  29. However, my father works in a lumber store, and has had to pick locks
  30. for a few contractors.  He swears by the pick-gun (the one his store has
  31. is not anywhere near what is described above), and he says that it is
  32. great.  He has never picked a lock, but he has been rekeying them for
  33. years.  Judging from this, I would say that pick-guns work well for
  34. anyone with a knowledge of locks, but not the well-honed skills to pick
  35. them.  (which may be why they are so popular with police departments and
  36. the like).
