- Well I can only speak for the NYRG performance at WGI finals which
- is the one you (probably) watched. I would not say it was the best
- performance for us that year. There were a lot of individual breakdowns
- that night which include some drops if you look close enough. The most
- obvious one to me is the shortest sabre in the beginning of Matchmaker
- who dropped and then turned too early following that drop. It's awful.
-
- I know when I watch a performance by any guard summer or winter my
- eyes are immediately drawn to someone who is out too lunch! We had
- a few in '83. I think we had a better year in '82, but that is my opinion.
- If you have '83 on tape watch the part right before the Bottle Dance
- begins, two rifles throw an exchange almost across the whole court.
- The guy on the right side is me, and I had to move a few steps because
- the other guy's toss was short and wide to the left, but I caught it!
- Again it is obvious that I had to move to catch it. I think he may
- have had to move as well to catch mine but not nearly as much.
-
- In another part, the very beginning as a matter of fact the
- opening toss for the rifle line, that camera angle is from the floor
- and on the catch, the closeup of the guy on the left, he catches it
- upside down. HE ALWAYS BLEW THIS TOSS!!
-
- In any event, to our credit we were the only rifle line to do
- sixes that year, and about three fives. The sixes are in the part
- where the guard is in a spiral formation and the flag line throws
- an exchange along the spiral on a paralell, which meant that it passed
- over the rifle lines heads, so we had to throw a six and kneel so we
- wouldn't get clocked. I worked very well, and came off great in
- Dayton.

- That is a shame. Especially these days when guards use props
- to hide behind and change uniforms, equipment, etc. They just
- wanted her out I guess.

- Maybe you could write something about the show?
