- We would like some help with a recommendation of what to buy and possible
- problems we might encounter with our configuration.....
-
- We have 25 IBM PS/2 Model 56SLC's all connected via IBM/Token Ring to our
- HOST IBM ES9000m210. Currently they are only connected properly to allow
- LASER Printer sharing. We have ordered an IBM PS/2 Model 95 for a File/
- Server. The File/Server will be running Novel Software, not IBM LAN software,
- and all our PC's connected to the Filer/Server will be using OS/2 2.0 Extended
- Services. The programmers using the 56SLC's are using them to develop systems
- for the Mainframe with CSP/2AD and QMF. CSP/2AD requires OS/2 and HPFS disk
- assignment. IBM told us that Novel supports the HPFS so that should not be a
- problem (if that is true).
-
- NOW, I come to my problem/concern/question.... I want to provide all of IBM
- Mainframe Manuals On-Line via a CD-ROM 6-platter Unit on the File/Server....
- I will probably want to use IBM/BOOKMANAGER software also, unless someone has
- a better (lower cost alternative).....
- We need a good suggestion of what to buy from someone that has already done it!
- The CD-ROM drive will be on the File/Server running under Novel LAN
- Software and the workstations requesting CD-ROM access will be operating under
- an OS/2 Desktop environment.... Can this be done and what should we buy?
