- On discussing strange pizza combinations:
-
- >>The Grey Lady looks up with delight and interest upon hearing Mishael
- >>expound on the virtues of pineapple and canadian bacon pizza. "Welcome
- >>back, Mishael, and I'll split one of those with you, if you'd like. I'm
- >>also a devotee of that combination.
-
- >>"I suppose I'll have less luck persuading anyone to share a sauerkraut
- >>and canadian bacon pizza with me. I had one in Fargo, North Dakota, once,
- >>and enjoyed it immensely, much to my own surprise!"
-
- Rie adds:
-
- >Here in Hays they have a pizza joint called Augustino's. Every week they
- >have a buffet where they get rid of ingredients they have too much of. I went
- >there last semester and they had sausage and sauerkraut pizza. Not Italian
- >sausage, mind you, but real thick, chewy-skinned Polish kielbasa. It was
- >great!! BTW, what is Fargo like? My mom is from there, but I've never been to
- >visit.
-
- The Grey Lady ponders that for a moment, and replies, "That sounds good,
- too! Kielbasa sounds like a wonderful substitute for canadian bacon.
-
- "As for Fargo, I've only visited it in the dead of winter, which is
- *not* a fair time to comment on it. They *aren't* the icebox of the
- 48 contiguous states (a small town in Minnesota holds that honor), but
- they must be in the running for the top 20 or so.
-
- "As for the ELCA hymnal, Rie, near as I can tell, they complicate the meter
- so the congregation won't sing, or won't sing well, which makes the choir
- sound wonderful by comparison! (And if that comment gets back to the
- choir director, I'm gonna hear about it!)"
