- This is what has been bugging me lately. The other day some friends and I
- went dowm to the local mall to do some quick shopping; we figured we
- wanted some stuff. (In total, there were two guys and two girls.)
-
- A LARGE majority of the stores are already overstocked with Valentine's
- Day supplies, from large crimson hearts to teddy bears with sappy "I Love
- You" messages on them to chocolates (so you can watch your SO get fat) ad
- nauseum. I swear by the end of that little excursion I was very ready to
- throw up. What was worse, one of the girls I was with spent a LOT of time
- agonizing over what to get her boyfriend (who lives in another state):
- "Hmmm... he doesn't like chocolates. This bear's not cute enough. This
- card doesn't seem right...."
-
- I really wanted to hurl big time. I'm another one of those "nice guys"
- I've been reading so much about lately on this group and well, I always
- finish dead last. One year I did try to send flowers to this girl on
- Valentine's Day, and she totall dissed me afterward (immediately
- afterward) and now I just don't even bother to make the effort anymore.
- (Accumulated problems of which the aforementioned incident was just the
- straw that broke the camel's back.)
-
- Well, that's about it for now. You can betcha that on Feb. 14, I'll be
- sitting at home actively avoiding any repulsive, PDA-ing couples anywhere
- in public.
-
- Thanks for letting me get this out.
