- Greetings UCX users.
-
- Has anyone had much experience with the UCX implementation of SMTP mail?
- We have recently installed UCX V2.0, but the documentation on how to set
- up SMTP mail is pretty useless. Unfortunately, we only have the doco on
- CD, so I don't know if the paper version is any different/better.
-
- The specific option I'm interested in (at the moment) is "RELAY" (as in
- SET CONFIG SMTP/OPTIONS=(RELAY)). According to the two or three lines in
- the doco, this option will "relay mail to other nodes using MAIL-11".
- What does that mean?
-
- I had hoped that it might allow us to use this machine as an SMTP gateway
- for the remainder of our DECnet nodes which are not running TCP/IP. Sending
- mail out works fine : you get a "From" address like "USER::VAX1"@vax2.etc.etc
- which is reasonable enough. When you try to reply to such an address, it
- bounces off the "vax2" node in my example and gives you an RMS record not
- found error (presumably it is trying to lookup the username in the UAF file).
-
- All help much appreciated,
