  30.    If someone's doing a psychoprofile of the typical creationists this 
  31. should be included.  Creationists (the long term comitted ones) 
  32. typically understand almost nothing on the rational level.  Their means
  33. of arriving at the truth is to cite what they feel to be a prominent 
  34. authority.  Having found an authority figure that says what they want
  35. they then brandish that authority figure like Van Helsing waving a 
  36. silver cross at a Vampire.

  38.    This is really tragic because they end up citing sources that don't
  39. actually support their position.  Look at Cotera's recent attempt to 
  40. sieze on out-of-contex phrases from an elementary text on evolution 
  41. because they seemed, to him, to say what he wanted said.  Take as another
  42. example Bob Bales who can't even correctly state the theory he's 
  43. attempting to refute.  He just brandishes his voodoo-fetish phrases
  44. over and over.
