  26. Ok, the hit was well taken. I am down on Dallas because for the last few 
  27. years I have been active in trying to make change and got frustrated with
  28. the constant uphill battle. I guess you could say I got burnt out. I really
  29. hit the bottom when I had to deal with city manager Jan Hart's views on 
  30. cutting all monies for AIDS programs. Having been on the Board of Directors
  31. for Aids Services of Dallas and been thru the fights with the City I became
  32. very cynical. I don't see these problems in other places I have been active.
  33. In Fort Worth the Aids Outreach Center is practically mainstream now. Most
  34. of their fundraisers are backed by straights and there are usually many more
  35. straights than gays at their functions. The same was true when I lived in 
  36. Austin. Maybe I have just hit my head against the wall too many times in Dallas
  37. and have lost sight of the progress that has been made.
