  16. I grab the hook, grab the line, grab the bait, grab the box and wait
  17. and tackle and shackle the topic the faculty has chosen
  18. Chosen by many, chosen by plenty, chosen by any man or woman who can
  19. understand the topic that's known
  20. and go by the dock, flock, and clock the topic
  21. as I drop my hook and get a bite.

  23. The reason I'm fishing for a new religion is my church makes me fall
  24. to sleep
  25. They're praising a god that watches you weep
  26. and doesn't want you to do a damn thing about it
  27. When they want change, the preacher says 'Shout it!'
  28. does shouting bring about change? I doubt it.
  29. All shouting does is make you lose your voice.

  31. So on the dock I sit in silence
  32. Staring at a sea that's full of violence
  33. Scared to put my line in that water 'cause it seems like no religion's
  34. in there.
  35. Naievely so, I give it another go,
  36. sitting in church hearing legitimate woes-
  37.  
  38. Pastor tells the lady it'll be all right,
  39. just pray so you can see the pearly gates so white.
  40. The lady prays and prays and prays and prays
  41. and prays and prays and prays and... prays and... it's everlasting!
  42. There's nothing wrong with praying; it's what she's *asking*.
  43. She's asking the lord to let her cope
  44. so one day she can see the golden ropes.
  45.  
  46. What you pray for god will give:
  47. to be able to *cope* in this world we live.
  48. The word cope and the word change
  49. is directly opposite and not the same.
  50. She should have been praying to *change* her woes,
  51. but pastor said, pray to *cope* with those.

  53. The government is happy with most baptist churches
  54. 'cause they don't try to do a damn thing to try to nurture
  55. brothers and sisters on a revolution - 
  56. baptist teaches dying is the only solution.
  57. Passiveness causes others to pass us by.
  58.  
  59. I throw my line until I've made my decision
  60. Until then I'm still fishing for religion!
