- My son (that is, the biological offspring of my ex-lover and
- her then husband; she and I raised Jeremy together from the time
- he was 2 or 3) just told me that one of his good friends at
- college is a woman who was raised by her gay father (who died of
- AIDS when she was just 13). The two of them have decided to be
- a sort of local speakers' bureau, visiting classes at their
- college and telling students what it's like to be raised by gay
- parents.
-
- Come to think of it, I forgot to ask him just what it is
- that he would plan to say -- I'll have to do that. He has
- told me recently, though, that he thinks we did a great job
- raising him. (He may not always have that same opinion, so
- it behooves me to cherish such compliments when I get them.)
