  44. In full agreement with Mr. Walker, methinks Mr. Seidman
  45. is reading waaaay too much into the bookstore's policy
  46. of only carrying books by female authors. I see no reason
  47. not to name names - Smedleys bookstore is a SPECIALTY
  48. shop. They have finite floor space *and* their stock
  49. COMPLEMENTS that found in other bookstores right
  50. inside Ithaca. In fact, back in ancient times,
  51. when I lived in Ithaca, Borealis bookstore had a little
  52. sign posted which explained their lack of a women's studies/
  53. lesbian studies section. Namely, that these items could
  54. be found nearby at Smedleys. No one read any "anti-woman" bias
  55. into Borealis's decision not to duplicate Smedleys' stock.
  56. Nor should any "anti-man" bias be read into Smedleys' decision
  57. to specialize in women's books and women authors.

  59. The existence of Smedleys won't lead to the eradication of
  60. heterosexuality. And it's not like they specialize
  61. in *hate* literature. Let's find some real injustice to get
  62. worked up about.
