  29. His note was NOT covered up.  In fact, it was published by `La Presse'
  30. and possibly even `The Gazette' here in Montreal.  I'm sure you can
  31. look it up, it was published no later than a couple of months after
  32. the incident.  If your French isn't hot, send it to me on-line and I
  33. can translate it.

  35. I wouldn't be surprised if it never made it to Toronto, though... The
  36. note (I didn't read all of it, but this is what I remember) was
  37. basically expressing anger at women and feminists in particular, as
  38. well as giving a little of Lepine's background.  It
  39. probably never made it to Toronto because the note actually made the
  40. reader feel some sympathy for the man, which was the complete
  41. opposite of what most of the media wanted. (`La Presse' is known to
  42. be more politically incorrect than most newspapers.)

  51. themselves, never published retractions, never even suggested going
  52. overboard.  Therefore, it should not be excused.
