  19. Hi everyone,
  20.     I just got accepted to the master program in electrical
  21. engineering at University of South Florida at Tempa.  That 's the
  22. first school that I applied and accepted.  So I would like to ask for
  23. some opinions from netters whoever have heard anything about the
  24. school or the area.  One of the professors that I talked at my school
  25. happened to be from Florida originally.  He said the school had a
  26. pretty good reputation in Florida.  My questions are the following:

  28. 1. Are there some decent high-tech industries in the area of Tempa?
  29.  
  30. 2. Someone told me that Florida had a much serious drug problem than
  31. the rest of the country.  Reasons: a. The coast line is very long.
  32. b. The weather is so nice that almost everybody can grow coke in their
  33. backyard.(of course illegally).  Is Florida really that bad?
  34.  
  35. 3. People said the life pace in Florida was sort of slow in comparison
  36. to the rest of the country.  Is it really true?
  37.  
  38. 4. Is the beach and city life too distractive to students?
  39.  
  40. 5. Are the people pretty friendly over there?
  41.  
  42. I would like any inputs on the above questions.  Your answers are
  43. greatly appreciated.  I plan to move to Florida right after the new year.
