- Ok, I decided to get in on this one. You are both right (all right??)
- Piglet and Kay are correct...(much nicer construction...)
- I looked it up, mainly because as a former member of the print media,
- I wanted an answer. Well, according to Webster's 9th COllegiate Dict.
- (the only one I have in the office) media is singular and medias plural,
- although (and I'm paraphrasing here) the word media has been used as a
- mass noun (collective) construed as a singular, such as the news media.
- however..."this use is not as well established as the mass-noun use of
- data and is likely to incur criticism esp. in writing." So, you are
- both correct to a degree.
- An interesting word is media, since it was a plural to begin with
- (from the singular medium.) I love Latin....
