  23. NASA NAMES MINORITY BUSINESS RESOURCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE 
  24. MEMBERS

  26.      NASA Administrator Daniel S. Goldin today announced the 
  27. names of the Chairman and 23 members selected to serve on the 
  28. newly-formed NASA Minority Business Resource Advisory 
  29. Committee.
  30.  
  31.      The committee, comprised of members of the business 
  32. community, will help NASA identify more small, disadvantaged 
  33. and women-owned firms which potentially could do business 
  34. with the space agency.  NASA has a goal of awarding 8 percent 
  35. of its contracts to small disadvantaged businesses (SDBs) by 
  36. the end of fiscal year 1994.

  38.      "This committee will help disprove the notion that there 
  39. are no high-tech small and disadvantaged businesses.  We know 
  40. they're out there, and we'll find them and nurture them 
  41. because we want to work with firms that have the desire to 
  42. reach for the American dream," Goldin said in announcing the 
  43. committee last September.

  45.      The committee's first meeting is tentatively scheduled 
  46. for Jan. 26, 1993, at NASA Headquarters, Washington, D.C.  
  47. All regularly scheduled meetings will be open to the public 
  48. and will be announced in the Federal Register.

  50.      Goldin selected Henry Wilfong as Chairman of the 
  51. committee.  Susan Borgo, a NASA Headquarters employee, is the 
  52. Executive Secretary.

  54.      Wilfong is the former Associate Administrator for the 
  55. U.S. Small Business Administration; a former member of the 
  56. Presidential Task Force on International Private Enterprise-
  57. Agency for International Development, U. S. Dept. of State; 
  58. and former City Councilman, Pasadena, Calif.  He is a 
  59. Certified Public Accountant and owned a CPA firm from 1963-
  60. 1983.  He currently is President of Wilfong and Co., a small 
  61. businesses consultant.
