- This is just to remind you that the GAU-8A gun is used in the
- Goalkeeper point defense system. So it will be effective against
- a/c and missiles. As far as using the US Phalanx for the same
- job, my answer is; just think about the A-10 and the Apache
- Both can withstand 23mm fire. So it wouldn't be very effective
- against those kinds of targets. Using the GAU-8A will also give
- the vehicle some defense against light/medium armored vehicles.
