  32. This is just to remind you that the GAU-8A gun is used in the
  33. Goalkeeper point defense system. So it will be effective against
  34. a/c and missiles. As far as using the US Phalanx for the same
  35. job, my answer is; just think about the A-10 and the Apache
  36. Both can withstand 23mm fire. So it wouldn't be very effective
  37. against those kinds of targets. Using the GAU-8A will also give
  38. the vehicle some defense against light/medium armored vehicles.
