- Yes, it exists. The person doesn't actually get "psychotic," but
- rather becomes violent, agitated, impulsive, and is amnesic for
- the events. This happens with a small amount of alcohol (not
- usually enough to be intoxicating) and the person, between such
- episodes, is not by nature violent. It usually occurs to people
- with a variety of neuropsychiatric disorders, i.e. the brain
- substrate is made vulnerable by an underlying condition to the
- pathological reaction to alcohol. The movie was Final Analysis,
- right? I was giving a lecture the other day that made reference
- to pathological intoxication and one of the students asked me if
- that was what they were trying to portray in that film. Not
- having seen it, I couldn't comment.
