- An interesting light is shed on the aluminum - Alzheimer question by the
- experience of renal dialysis patients. Something about the dialysis
- process loads them up with aluminum. Most patients handle this without a
- problem. Their levels are above normal but they are getting rid of some
- of the excess somehow. They don't get Alzheimer disease. A very
- occasional patient does NOT get rid of the excess well enough. They get
- sick, but they don't get Alzheimer disease. Aluminum poisoning, unlike
- Alzheimer disease, is rapidly fatal if not recognized and treated promptly
- with chelation. It is reversible if treated, unlike Alzheimer disease.
- The patient goes on with high but not dangerous levels of aluminum and no
- Alzheimer disease for years, with occasional courses of chelation to keep
- the aluminum from getting TOO high.
