  12. My 75 yr old Dad is currently in the hospital undergoing tests.  A 
  13. recent blood test showed a low platelet count, and further tests have
  14. pointed to a diagnosis of AML (subtype M7?).  The doctor indicated
  15. that it is not a textbook case of AML; bone marrow tests showed
  16. a lack of cells (appeared empty?) rather than a proliferation of
  17. mutant cells.  A blood test taken 6 months ago was completely
  18. normal.

  20. My Dad is feeling a little weakened now, but has generally
  21. enjoyed good health.  He has chronic lower back problems, which
  22. had seemed to get worse in the last few months.  Could that be
  23. related to the bone marrow problems?  He also complained
  24. of getting occasional chills.

  26. I would greatly appreciate ANY information on AML, or concerning
  27. other possible diagnoses (if AML is ruled out).  Thanks,
