- My 75 yr old Dad is currently in the hospital undergoing tests. A
- recent blood test showed a low platelet count, and further tests have
- pointed to a diagnosis of AML (subtype M7?). The doctor indicated
- that it is not a textbook case of AML; bone marrow tests showed
- a lack of cells (appeared empty?) rather than a proliferation of
- mutant cells. A blood test taken 6 months ago was completely
- normal.
-
- My Dad is feeling a little weakened now, but has generally
- enjoyed good health. He has chronic lower back problems, which
- had seemed to get worse in the last few months. Could that be
- related to the bone marrow problems? He also complained
- of getting occasional chills.
-
- I would greatly appreciate ANY information on AML, or concerning
- other possible diagnoses (if AML is ruled out). Thanks,
