  18. This is very interesting.  How old is the unit?  A friend of mine just
  19. purchased a Sony surround sound receiver which I beleive is the same model
  20. and he's currently on his third.  The first one had a defective remote and
  21. some LED on the main unit refused to turn off fully (something else too I
  22. believe).  The second one seemed to be fully functional but it produced a
  23. continuous hum until it warmed up (several minutes later).  He was told
  24. that it was because his satellite speakers where 4 ohms and not 8 but the
  25. owners manual seems to indicate that 4 ohm speakers are fine.  I'm not
  26. sure if he's received the third yet but I'm curious to see if it's DOA as
  27. well.  This sounds very uncharacteristic of Sony.
