- Recently (& more by good luck than good management) I aquired a small air
- cooled argon laser head and exciter, Spectra Physics type 262. As this
- machine, whilst fully functional, is in battered condition, i speculated
- that it may benefit from a little tweaking. The first issue is the mirror
- alignment - does anyone know of a standard procedure for this ?. Simply
- twiddling screws seems pointless, as the feedback mechanisms (optical and
- current) just try and compensate, until it gives up when too far out of
- kilter. Speaking of feedback mechanisms, can these be fiddled to increase
- output, or is this likely to compromise plasma tube life. The tube
- currently seems to pull about 6 or 7 amps. Info from anyone about the
- setup and output capabilities of the 262 would be appreciated.
- cheers
- Mike
