  12. i had the impression some high current semiconductor failures were
  13. caused by spot heating due to uneven current distribution.  this 
  14. would make some spots along the junction carry a heavier density
  15. than others, hence, higher heat load.  i think this is more true
  16. of older devices before they started putting in load balancing
  17. resistors in them.
