- I doubt you'll find a book like that. Have you tried computerized
- literature searches through a library? They can turn up books & articles.
- I expect what you want will be in papers, not books. My experience (in
- researching engineering) is that the innovative stuff is presented at
- conferences & that scholarly journals print "old news".

- What do you mean by that? Everyone knows there is a lot of marketing
- hype in the computer industry that doesn't come true. Every so often one
- sees an article "exposing" some of the fluff to be false. Is that what
- you're talking about.
