- I believe the figure in Barron's INCLUDED government debt as well.

- From my economics book ( 1988 ): total consumer debt around 3 Trillion
- From my accounting book ( 1989 ): total unfunded corporate liabilities
- are around 1-3 Trillion.

- Total corporate debt I remember being in the same ballpark. So toal
- debt would be somwhere around 7-8 Trillion, which, added with
- explicit government debt, = around 12 Trillion.
