- A number of us have responded to the initial poster, either by email or by
- post, about the importance of getting hold of the manual for the tool.

- This story reminded me that the manual for my RAS (Sears, 12 yrs old,
- incomparably better than anything they sell now) mentions this particular
- hazard and the importance of setting up the saw so that it slopes towards
- the back, to prevent exactly this from happening.

- How many more safety rules of that sort, not at all obvious during setup,
- are there?

- I hope the original poster follows our advice and gets the manual before
- he uses his saw. This is good advice for any new tool, but for something
- as dangerous as a big saw, is essential.
