- Fiberspar is getting into Freeskate because one of its employees,
- Nevin somebody or another I think, learned to do it and was pissed he
- didn't win everything. So they cooperated with the designer to build
- the board for him. I think he is still designing with them.
-
- As for building your own, the NE Windsurfing journal printed two or three
- rough designs last year. One mono-ski version, one plywood, and
- something else I think.
-
- If you're going to build one and you want some flex, try picking up a
- pair of old skis from the trash or garage sale, or for that matter, if
- you get up to Lexington MA, look me up. Skis should flex better than
- marine ply, but I'm not sure if that's what's needed. A big part of
- the performance is in the skateboard "trucks" that support the blades.
- Freeskate sells their trucks ($$$) but maybe skateboard trucks will do
- it instead. (The trucks steer when you carve the board).
