- Could somebody please explain what the difference is between Control-L
- and Control-S inputs on Sony VCR's? According the the Sony literature,
- the SLV-R5 has Control-S input and output and Control-L jack.
- The SLV-696 has Control-S input, but apparently not Control-L.
-
- According to Jeff Killeen's "FAQ Sony products / 8mm products V1.0"
- LANC [or Control-L] is a bi-directional "data bus".
- It passes both commands (Pause, rew, play, ect.) and status information
- (h:mm:ss, recorder status, ect.).
-
- How does this compare with Control-S? I am getting a TR-101, and would
- like to have some minimal editing capability. Will the 'Flying erase'
- on the SLV-696 coupled with Control-S be enought to do the job? What
- more will the Control-L buy my?
- Lastly (and I can call around on this one for details), what is the
- price difference to expect between these two units?
-
- Thanks-
